Room recording guide
How to record an in-person meeting and turn it into useful notes
A good meeting record starts with clear speech, not a complicated setup. Decinote records room audio through your device’s microphone and keeps the saved recording beside an editable transcript and draft notes.
Use a short test before an important conversation. A microphone across a noisy room cannot reliably capture every speaker, and automatic notes still need a human review.
A practical workflow
Prepare the room and the device
Tell the participants what you want to record and obtain their permission. Put the phone or computer near the speakers on a stable surface, reduce background noise, and check battery and internet access. Open Decinote in a supported browser or its installed web app.
Choose room audio and the meeting language
Sign in, create a new meeting, give it a useful name, and choose room audio. Select the spoken language—English, French, or Arabic—or use the available automatic language option. Confirm participant consent, allow the browser’s microphone permission, and start recording.
Check the recording before the real discussion
Record a short introduction, stop, save, and listen back. If a speaker sounds distant, move the device closer. During the meeting, keep the recording page open and the device awake; background operation and screen locking can interrupt capture, especially on phones. Watch the timer and any recording warning.
Save, review, and turn decisions into actions
Stop and save the recording when the meeting ends. For eligible recordings, wait for the automatic transcript and notes, then open the meeting in your library. Check names, figures, decisions, and deadlines against the recording. Add an owner and due date only when they were agreed, and save your corrections before exporting.
What to check before you rely on a recording
- A denied microphone permission must be enabled in your browser or device settings before room recording can work.
- Automatic notes require internet processing and an eligible file size. The current automatic-processing limit is 100 MiB; recording length varies with quality and format.
- Free access includes room audio and a monthly allowance. Camera and supported desktop screen recording require Pro access, currently activated by an administrator or valid gift code.
Common questions
Does Decinote record other online meeting apps automatically?
Room audio uses your microphone. It does not automatically join calls or bypass another app’s audio restrictions. Supported desktop browsers offer separate screen capture modes; the audio a browser can share depends on the chosen source and operating system. Test your exact setup first.
Can I record with my phone locked or without internet?
Do not depend on background or locked-screen recording. Keep the app visible and the device awake. Sign-in, uploads, and automatic notes need a connection; installing the web app does not make the full workflow work offline.
